New Stepping-Stone for Electronic Music

Not many electronic music artists can say that they’ve been nominated 5 times in just one Grammy event. 23-year-old Sonny Moore, also known as Skrillex, has broken that barrier from the underground electronic music scene to mainstream popular success. Many say that the Grammy nominations were expected and unexpected, but without a doubt this was still a great moment for a dance artist to be nominated along with big name artist like Nicki Minaj and The Band Perry.  A legendary Los Angeles disc jockey of electronic music tweeted that Skrillex nomination for best new artist was a big and historic moment in electronic music. So far the young dance artist is stirring much talk and controversy and seems clear that the young artist will have much success in the music industry.

Skrillex will be highly respected in the music industry and he has not even touch base with the stepping-stone in his career. Much of his time dedicated to putting his music out at first was a struggle for Moore. He got signed to a record deal with Atlantic and was releasing out tracks that weren’t getting any attention from the label. Skrillex took it upon himself and released his first album out for free. He built his fan base from barely any help from the record label and still rose to success and got nominated for 5 Grammy’s. He spent his time composing, programming, writing, and mixing his own material. Now on tour, Skrillex is on the road as a DJ and performing remixes of his very own. Skrillex track count at this point in his career is massively impressive with a number of remixes, collaborations and free digital releases. Skrillex will be known for bringing the new highly crazed genre called dubstep. Many eyes and ears are leaning towards the new artist, producer, DJ and sound designer.

Velvet Made of Warhol

The Velvet Underground were a very odd and talented Alternative Rock band from New York City. They were managed by Andy Warhol and set the image for the group. Warhol had much to do with the popularity of the group. The lead members were Lou Reed & John Cale, which both had a successful career as solo artist’s. One of there more popular albums was there first self-entitled album, “The Velvet Underground & Nico. Andy Warhol contributed to the album by designing the album cover of Banana of the cover. The Velvet Underground & Nico were a phenomenal band and bizarre which was what caught a few people attention, but it was said the album wasn’t commercially successful. Even though the album didn’t sell much, the majority of the people who got the album ended up starting a band.

In 1965, Andy Warhol became the manager for the band and at the time, Warhol suggested that band bring Nico into the band. Upon their release of the first album, much of the production was done by Tom Wilson & Andy Warhol. The album was known be influential to many artist like David Bowie, R.E.M. & The Strokes. The Band struggled for recognition to grow and tension grew within the band. Even there show’s where influential which included 16 mm film projections and colors by Warhol. I can honestly say that I am very impressed after I finish reading on the group and learning on how much they contributed to the Pop Culture with Warhol’s bizarre image for the group and the experimental instrumentation. Much of music today is based on trying new things and stepping out the box and The Velvet Underground & Nico broke the barrier significantly.

a G' Vibration

The Beach Boys album, "Pet Sounds" was ranked number 2 for the Rolling Stones Top 500 greatest Albums of all time. The album alone is a great album with memorable single that will be remembered for Century’s to come. The overall sound of Pet Sounds was sort Psychedelic/Pop Rock/Surf feel. The album Pet Sounds was the first album recorded without any music contribution by the Beach Boys. Instead, the Beach boys solely were used for Vocal and harmonies throughout the time recording. In the time of recording of pet sounds, Brian Wilson had a vision from the start and simply the process became just putting it all together and using the Studio as an instrument for recording.

The single Good Vibration was one on the Singles main successful hit, Brain said the single was summation of his musical vision, a harmonic convergence of imagination and talent to which the production valued original songwriting and spirituality. In an Rolling Stones article read The Beatles made a point of echoing them on Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band – an acknowledgment that Pet Sounds was the inspiration for the Beatles’ masterpiece. In the Mist of still building the image for the Group’s upcoming album, the photo shoot was shoot at the San Diego Zoo. The photos of The Beach Boys feeding the goats was a paying homage to the album's chosen title, Pet Sounds.

The Album alone was pure magic when it came to the harmonies in the Music that were recorded beautifully and mixed so well. One the best things I like about the album is the avant-garde strings and horn arrangements supported by the unorthodox instruments, bicycle bells, and the percussion. In my opinion, this album set the start for artist to start thinking out of the Box and get more creative with music. Very influential upon its release, it immediately praised the band into the top level of Pop innovators.

In time, ...

marvin's Sitio

It was released in 2003 that Rolling Stone magazine’s listed Marvin Gaye’s album, “What Going On” at number 6 of the 500 greatest albums of all time. Prior to the recording of the album, Gaye fell into deep depression after singing partner and fellow Motown artist Tammi Terrell who past away from brain tumor in 1970. Much to say of what went on during these drastic times and Gaye had a lot to ponder upon his first single release entitled, “What’s Going On”. The Single received a lot negative reviews before the release because of how political the topic was, and the record label thought it was too spiteful and ending up being one of the song greatest in the 1970s.

The album was produced by Marvin Gaye, and also had Songwriting credits on the album. The first single “What’s Going On” was on the charts for 5 weeks straight at number 1. Much emotion and thought went into the project that Gaye even sung all lead vocals on the album. When the album was release, much didn’t agree with the idea of having a concept album that revolved around political corruption, drug abuse, and the Vietnam War. Just to show that Marvin stood by what he spook about, Rolling Stone magazine music critic Vince Aletti was surprised on the success of the album that he said in a review for the album, “Guess I seriously underestimated him. I won’t happen again”. In the end of the media and critic doubting the album, even Gaye amazed with the results, let alone the impact the album had on the world. The album, in my opinion, was Gaye’s greatest work of all time. Also the album was Gaye’s highest-ranking entry on the list as well as several other publications’ lists.

Refuse to be A Victim

Dre 2001

Andre Romelle Young, primarily known by his stage name, “Dr. Dre”, has had a drastic impact in the Hip Hop industry. Now 46 year old Record Producer, Rapper, and entrepreneur is currently working on one of the most anticipated albums in Hip Hop, entitled, “Detox”. Dre always seems to stay relevant in Hip Hop, due to the production influences of Jazz, Funk, Opera, and Synthesizer sound that bring together the Dr. Dre sound known as West Coast G-Funk. Throughout the 90’s, Much of West Coast Hip Hop was popular and gained more ears when Dr. Dre’s 2001 album dropped in store.

Dr. Dre innovation has been a great inspiration to many young producer’s, as myself. He went through a lot in order to succeed in the industry, you have to be willing to make your own moves. Just to elaborate, Dr. Dre use to be in a group called N.W.A., which ended up becoming some of the most talked about Hip Hop till this day. Dre later went to start Death Row records with Suge Knight. The record was later much more known for their news headlines and less about the music. From there, Dre wisely reprieved himself from Death Row and went on to start a new record label called, “Aftermath Records”. When Dr. Dre began the label, one of the first artist signed to Dre’s label was a loquacious white rapper from Detroit named Eminem.

Later on, both Eminem and Dr. Dre went on to create some the greatest Hip Hop records to ever touch the shelves. With Releases like The Eminem Show, The Marshall Mathers LP, and Dr Dre’s 2001. Most of the albums were produced by both Eminem and Dr. Dre. This gave me inspiration to begin writing, producing, arranging music. Much of Hip hop has to do with vision, and Dre saw his vision. One of the main things to keep in mind during songwriting and development is to trust your own ears and contribute to the sound that most pleases yourself.

Revolver...betta put the safety on me

The overall image of Revolver was Experimental Psychedelic Pop Rock in a sense. While recording the album, the Abbey Road team invented a revolutionary system for automatic double-tracking. When this occurred, it opened doors for more sound ideas to be blended and to have sound images overlap. The Beatles quickly fell in love with new technology and applied to the whole Revolver Album. On top of the experimenting the Beatles were doing on the Revolver album, Some also of the band members were experimenting with psychedelic drugs that would twist and give the music a totally new view on how people looked at music.

The Beatles revealing establishments in the recording studio reached its peak with the album's final track, “Tomorrow never comes”. The Song was very surprising to the Public because of the Phasers, flangers and harmonizers in the song. When I first heard the single it seemed like dream on LCD. Which in humor that’s what the song was suppose to sound like, from the lyrics to the actual music. I was also intrigued by the beginning of the record, and come to find out that it was a distorted guitar loops, while sped-up guitars and treated wine-glass percussion is what brought the songs sound.

The Beatles have been a major influence in my career as far as to how I look at the industry. As for the experimenting goes, I’m a little skeptical about the Psychedelic drug treatment for musically performance, even though it is much relevant for artist today taking up conventional drug use with their music. It is because of the Beatles, artist much like today are stepping out of the box with creativity. There are many ways you can get the attention of your audience, the Beatles choice to grab their attention and enlighten at the same time.

¡Andale! ¡Andale! ¡Arriba! ¡Arriba! ¡Yiii-hah!

FAME... Betta Recognize

It was blessed at electric lady studio. Thats says a lot about the magic that went on in that studio. In my opinion it was maybe a piece hendrix energy in the song. When David Bowie and John Lennon were working on the record the pair socialised and jammed together, which led to a one-day session at Electric Lady Studio in January 1975. Nuff Said!
